We are back. No signs of paresis of the stomach, stuff does move down into the duodenum. We had to roll him from side to side to get it moving out of the stomach, and maybe that is something we need to do while he is in bed, since he doesn’t get up and walk around. Ah, maybe he needs one of those beds that rolls from side to side and does the occasional pounding. Come to think of it, since Mikie still has a catheter in we don’t have to change his diaper as often as we do at home, so we are not rolling him very often. Mikie is sitting up in his chair now, shaking his keys and doing well. I asked nurse Terri to see if they can put in a call to the NP so I can tell them what we need to do. And this is what I think we need to do:
- Let’s try one of the fancy beds as well as physically rolling him on a regular basis.
- Let’s keep the NG tube in place for a few days but leave it unhooked unless we see signs of him getting ready to vomit.
- Let’s monitor his seizures and check his levels. Since he is gagging and hiccupping after seizures we should make sure he is moved around and rolled after he has one.
- Let’s pull the catheter and get him back on a diaper.
- Let’s get him on a feeding schedule similar to home, food a little faster, then a break, and some juices.
- Let’s pull the staples from his head.
Johnny Hudson just left, he brought with him another NP named Christi and the attending physician, Dr. Chandler. I let him know what my conclusion from the test was and he agreed, though he will certainly see what the report says. I don’t think the radiologist will have solution but will only show that there is nothing physically wrong. Mikie started hiccupping while they were here and still is. They already checked his seizure medication levels a few days ago and everything is within normal ranges. He said he would check on the bed. And he said he would order the feeding schedule to be more like home.
