Mikie is not doing so well today.  We started him on some new food about a week ago, something called Perative.  This has a few more calories than the other and since we were having such a hard time getting 4 cans of the other in him without him getting sick, at least he would get a bit more nutrition with 3 cans of this.  That has been going well, he has not gotten sick since last Friday, and that was just a minor episode. But he has been very sleepy lately.  Monday evening we took him with us to the IBM Ring 184 meeting in Augusta.  I noticed he was very tense during the trip, squeezing my hand very tightly and pulling his arms tightly to himself.  We noticed that in the hospital when Mikie was at his worst, that is the most uncomfortable, he would clinch his hands almost tight enough to cut his nails into his palms.  We would put things in his hands to keep them open.  Since he has been home he has been much more relaxed, but now we see that tenseness again.  I’m wondering if it is related to the new food.  He just acts like it might be a blockage or constipation.

It’s about 10:30 PM and we just gave him his seizure meds and it has relaxed him a lot.  I’m giving him a little Tylenol slowly as well.  Hopefully this will all pass by morning.  It could be a pretty restless night for us.
