Mikie has been sleeping all day. He finally woke up round 7 PM and had a diarrhetic BM and was pretty uncomfortable while we changed him and for a while afterwards. It’s now 8:40 and he is sleeping and quite relaxed with his heart rate back in the 80’s. I didn’t have to position him on his side to get him to calm down, he is on his back for a change. The nurse (Brenda, an RN) is getting his meds ready now and will give him something for pain as well. The doc told Lorraine today that they want him to go back to a feeding schedule like home, and to get the catheter out as well. But he didn’t bother ordering it, so no one knows about it. We’ll push the issue tomorrow. He is off the IV, getting everything through his feeding tube. They did take him down and put in a PICC (percutaneously inserted central catheter) line today, though after he got a little potassium through it today they stopped all other fluids except by the feeding tube.
It’s 9 PM and the nurse just came in to give him all his meds, including a little Tylenol. He looks good, I think I will slip out and get some sleep myself.
