Mikie had a really good night. He was pretty calm the whole time, and I only had to get up a few times to move him or wet his mouth to stop him from starting the cycle of rapid breathing, rapid heart rate and high temps. I got up around 5 and rolled him and uncovered him as his temp rose to 100.9, but it only took a few minutes for it to drop back to normal. For the most part, his pulse has been in the 80s and 90s.
Mikie has been pulling his left arm into himself but I found that I could get him to relax it if I kept at it. He has more waking moments now where he seems pretty comfortable. I even saw his right eye trying to open some once.
I managed to get a little sleep myself, but found myself waking to look at the heart monitor. Mikie is a heavy breather and I would tune into it, waking if it was heavier and faster. They came to stick him to check his blood sugar at midnight and I told her to skip this check, as it had not been out of whack yet during this admission, and we even skipped the 6 AM check as well. Im going to ask the doctor to change his orders on this, instead of 4 times a day to only do it once, unless something pops up.
I called Lorraine a while ago (its 6:30 AM now) and she is getting ready to come up. I think we are going to have a pretty good day. Spending Christmas day in the hospital is not what we wanted to do, but we will do our best to enjoy it. Im going to run out to the magic shop in a while and pick up some magic that I can do today for anyone that will watch. Of course I always have a deck of cards with me, but I want to do a little more than card magic.
