We took Mikie to the Neurosurgeon today for a follow-up and they were pleased with his condition. We had to get a chest x-ray to check placement of the VA shunt, but we dont expect any bad report, as Mikie is just doing so well it is really unbelievable. He seems a bit uncomfortable in sitting lately that we though maybe it is time to get a new wheelchair, or at least new cushions. So we made an appointment with the ortho-doc as well. We also want to see if there is anything we can do to help us in taking care of Mikie by loosening up around his legs, though we really dont know what that means. Right now we really dont want to consider any surgery, as that means going back in the hospital.
Mikie is going to the day care center now, a very special place called Hope Bridge, for adults just like Mikie. He loves it, and they take good care of him. We used to send him just three days a week but we are sending him five days now since he is doing so well. Lorraine was getting cabin fever I think, and now she is able to get out again and spend my hard earned money.
No changes in medication lately and still Mikie has had very few seizures. He is very contented at times and slightly agitated at others, laughs but never cries, and just seems to be enjoying life.
What can I say? We have been blessed. |
